Amenomania is a highly limited edition collection of benches created by FICA and designed by guest illustrators. The 1st edition, with 10 units, was hand-drawn by illustrator Catarina Sobral and named Pica-bois (Oxpecker), referencing the bird of the Buphagus family, known for its strong beak and dark plumage, feeding on parasites found on rhinos, buffaloes, and other animals. This edition of 10 units is signed and numbered.

Delirium in which the imagination wanders through joyful things.
Since we created this bench, we feel that the workshop has been invaded by small, camouflaged wooden creatures. In the morning it's an elephant, in the afternoon it turns out to be a sheep. We look away and when we look back, that assembly of wood has undergone another mutation and is no longer even an animal. We are victims of our imagination and we want to regain our sanity. Or better yet, we want to drag others with us and give life to these camouflaged beings. And so we thought of illustrators, who often take us into their imagination, to create their version.
Catarina Sobral was born in 1985 in Coimbra. She is an illustrator and communication designer, with forays into printmaking and animation. She is the author of the books "Greve" (Special Mention at the National Illustration Prize 2011), "Achimpa" (elected Best Children's and Youth Book by the Portuguese Authors Society), and "O Meu Avô" (with illustrations selected for the Illustrators Exhibition at the Bologna Children's Book Fair 2014, receiving the International Illustrators Award).
