ABOUT US

FICA editions is a creation from FICA Oficina Criativa.

FICA Oficina Criativa was established in Lisbon and has been focused on democratizing artisanal know-how since 2016.

We are dedicated to promoting and sharing knowledge of various crafts, focusing particularly on ceramics, screen printing and woodworking. This emphasis is integral to our mission, which includes offering workshops to engage our community in learning and preserving these traditional artisanal skills.

The name FICA was thoughtfully chosen to reflect our mission and vision. In Portuguese, “fica" is derived from the verb “ficar", which means "to remain” or “to stay”, highlighting our commitment to preserving and promoting artisanal production techniques that risk falling into disuse.

Our goal is to ensure these valuable traditional skills and knowledge endure. By naming our project FICA, we emphasize our dedication to keeping these artisanal practices alive and relevant, safeguarding the cultural heritage they embody, ensuring they remain a vibrant and integral part of our society.

WORKSHOPS

Beyond ceramics and screen printing, we also offer workshops in textile crafts, basketry, bookbinding, engraving and others. These additional disciplines enrich our mission by broadening the scope of artisanal techniques we support and promote. Each workshop contributes to our goal of preserving and revitalizing traditional craftsmanship, ensuring a diverse array of skills and knowledge are passed down and celebrated within our community.

Through research, valorization, and dissemination, we educate and raise awareness about the importance of these crafts, not only for their environmental sustainability but also for their social and economic benefits. FICA is more than just a name. It is a call to action to preserve the rich legacy of manual craftsmanship and to ensure that it stays with us for generations to come.

Each workshop contributes to our goal of preserving and revitalizing traditional craftsmanship, ensuring a diverse array of skills and knowledge are passed down and celebrated within our community.

OUR WORKSHOP

Is a 300m² open area featuring dedicated spaces for ceramics, screen printing, and woodworking. It's a place that we like to call "oficinas dentro da oficina," which translates to "workshops within a workshop," highlighting our unique setup where multiple artisanal crafts coexist and flourish under one roof.

FICA EDITIONS FROM FICA OFICINA CRIATIVA

AFTER 8 YEARS

The creation of FICA Editions, in 2024, as a sub-brand of FICA Oficina Criativa comes from our desire to have a dedicated space for promoting and selling the products crafted within our workshop. FICA Oficina Criativa has always been a place where traditional techniques in ceramics, screen printing, and woodworking are practiced. As our creations have grown, we felt the need for a specific outlet that could better represent our handmade work.

A PLACE FOR OUR EDITIONS

FICA Editions provides a simple platform where these products can be shared and appreciated. This sub-brand will be the home for producing and distributing our editions, whether they be ceramics, screen prints, a combination of both, or other. It offers us a way to connect with a broader audience, allowing the effort and care put into each piece to be recognized.

By establishing FICA Editions, we hope to give us a dedicated space to showcase our work and share what we love to do. This new venture supports our commitment to sustaining and promoting traditional craftsmanship, and we are excited to see how it will help bring our handmade creations to more people. FICA Editions is a modest step forward in ensuring our artisanal practices continue to thrive and be appreciated in a wider context.
